A thesis of Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty, English Education Department, State Institute of Islamic Studies Samarinda. Advisors: Mohamad Muklis, M.Hum as the first advisor and Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the second advisor.
Based on the research explanation, the researcher found that Teaching English needs a long time to acquire it perfectly; more over there are four integrated skill such as listening, speaking, reading and writing that must be mastered well. The teacher should try to improve their skills and knowledge so students will feel interest and have better motivation in learning English. The objective of this research is to find out the teaching and learning English problems at the third grade of MTs. Al – Falah in academic year 2019/2020.
The method of this research was the descriptive qualitative method. Descriptive qualitative analysis was used to present the result of study in the form of descriptive explanation. The research was conducted at MTs. Al – Falah. In this research the subject of the study is the teacher of the third grade of MTs. Al – Falah in the academic year 2019/2020. The data were collected by three techniques: observation, interview, and documentation. The data were analyzed by three techniques: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. To get the validity of the data, the researcher used data triangulation.
The result of this research showed that there are some problems faced by the teacher in teaching at the third grade of MTs. Al – Falah, such as: 1) Difficulty to make students interested and pleased with the lesson; 2) Make the students understand. While the problems faced by the students at the third grade of MTs. Al - Falah, such as: 1) Listening Skill; 2) Speaking Skill; 3) Reading Skill; 4) Writing Skill.
