This research examines how flashcards teach fifth-graders at “SDN 002 Sungai Kunjang Samarinda vocabulary”. Language is one of the best ways to communicate. Language is versatile because it can be used orally and through gestures. Language effectively conveys ideas, knowledge, and examples verbally and nonverbally. English can be used as local content in “SDN 002 Sungai Kunjang's” K13 curriculum. Flashcards with images and words may include definitions and sample sentences. Flashcards can help elementary students learn new words. The research design was qualitative and descriptive. The author examined flashcards' effectiveness in fifth-grade vocabulary instruction at “SDN 002 Sungai Kunjang Samarinda”. The researcher used interview guides, observational tools, and two research instruments. The researcher created an interview guide and instrument before conducting these interviews. The researcher watched students learn in class. Miles and Huberman's analysis was used.
According to the interview results, the teacher uses formative and summative evaluations. Formative assessment given after instruction. Summative assessments are final or national exams given after a lesson. The research found that flashcards helped fifth-graders at “SDN 002 Sungai Kunjang Samarinda” learn vocabulary when used with other methods. The research sheds light on educators' flashcard creation and their potential to improve student learning. The research suggests that fifth-graders may benefit from vocabulary flashcards. Instructors can create effective flashcards with vivid images, clear definitions, and relevant illustrations.
