This research was under the guidance of Mrs. Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the first supervisor and Mrs. Widya Noviananoor, M.Pd as the second supervisor.
Learning style is the key to develop performance in the learning process. Learning style also refers to how we describe the approach individuals’ use in acquiring new language or learning in complex ways to process or store and retain what they learn. The purpose of this study is to identify students' learning style preferences as EFL learners in higher education.
This research method uses quantitative descriptive method. The instruments used were questionnaire and observation. The populations in this study were 69 fourth semester English tadris students at UIN Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. The data of this study were collected by asking students to answer questions in a questionnaire consisting of 30 questions. The data were analyzed by using the percentage formula.
Based on the results of data analysis, the learning styles used by fourth semester students majoring in English at UINSI Samarinda are 26% auditory learning style, 23% individual learning style, 21% visual learning style, 21% kinesthetic learning style, 10% tactile learning style, and 8% group learning style.
